Michael Owen is the last signing for Manchester United

Michael Owen was given Number 7 shirt as Sir Alex Ferguson says no more signing. The number 7 shirt was formerly wore by Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham. Owen is roped in to fill up the void left by the losses of Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.

Ferguson said: “Owen will bring us experience in the penalty box, and he’ll score goals, lots of goals, because that’s what he’s been good at for years.” Ferguson also confirmed that, following the captures of Owen, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan, the club have completed their summer transfer business.

I always think that Owen is deadly in front of goal mouth. He needs support from the midfielders to bring the balls to him. With Manchester United’s domineering ball possession and fluent ball passing play, I think Owen will benefit from it and will getting many balls. This is the best opportunity for Owen to rekindle his goal scoring prowess and impress Capello for a place in the England Team. Good moves for both Manchester United and Owen. I will be anxious to see how Owen performs.
