The benefit of Breastfeeding to new born babies is unquestionable. According to medical studies, the mother’s milk has the natural ability prevent diarrhea, ear infections, pneumonia, and asthma and protect against obesity in babies, while it diminishes the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in mothers. Even thought such benefits are known, many new mothers still do not practice breastfeeding their babies longer than six months.

However in a recent report from http://abcnews.go.com/Health/w_ParentingResource/surgeon-general-pushes-breastfeeding/story?id=12734142, the percentage of new mothers breastfeeding their new born babies only showed 43 percent of the breastfeeding mothers continued after six months. This caused the government and medical bodies showed concerns and publicly encourage longer breastfeeding period.
