CONSUMER confidence in Asia Pacific turned into depression

 

In a recent survey of countries in the Asia-Pacific has found that Consumer confidence has turned into consumer depression.

consumer-confidenceMasterCard Worldwide’s Index of Consumer Confidence turned out a result as pessimistic as the latest survey, which puts confidence at 24 points out of a possible 100.

Six months ago Australia was at 49 points, or one point below neutral. Job security took the biggest hit, falling from 35.5 points six months ago to 9.6. Overall quality of life fell from 48 index points to 14.

In stark contrast, the economies of China and India are surging ahead with comparatively unbridled optimism, recording overall index scores of 61 and 68 respectively.

New Zealand, Japan and Thailand, economies which have been flat for much longer.
