5 Pitfalls of Email Marketing

email marketing

Promoting Affiliate Marketing through emails might be old school, but it still works great today. Converting emails into sales is an art which you cannot just do blindly without deploying and planning. Many people are creating emails and some pay for emails. Yet the sales result from the emails is not worthy from the amount of investment and work done. Using email marketing the wrong ways can lose customers.

There are 5 common pitfalls which an Affiliate Marketer should always remember and avoid :

1. Bad Email Design – Do not use heave flash or java script in your email. Some java scripts do not show up properly in mails. So keep it simple and clean is the best strategy.

2. Wrong Return Email Address – Ensure that your return email address is correct. It is recommended to test it out yourself first before sending out the emails to the public. Replies can provide valuable information from problems with the email to enquiries about the product. Create a dedicated inbox account.

3. Dear “xxx” – Do not use “Dear xxx” in your email. “Dear Customer” is preferrable and more acceptable. I’ve had this happen to me before. So dont repeat my mistake.

4. Image but no text… – many ISPs don’t automatically download images so recipients are left with blank boxes. This makes it hard to track response rates. Always make sure this is considered in the email design and use a tool that demonstrates different ISPs or send a test mail to yourself first.

5. Stopped as spam – Words in subject lines such as WIN A GREAT PRIZE will not get past spam filters.
